Lake Weed Management
Utilize the collective power of our communities and individuals to ensure that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and local authorities consistently monitor and maintain the lake. This will help keep the lake healthy, safe, and free from invasive weed species. By doing so, the lake can be enjoyed by all for activities such as boating, fishing, water sports, and other recreational activities.

The Indian Lake Advocacy Group is compelled to resume its collaborative efforts with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Watershed, and other organizations due to the resurfacing weed problem at Indian Lake this year. Despite the high hopes placed on weed harvesters as a solution this year, the group acknowledges that this approach alone is insufficient. The Advocacy Group emphasizes the need to explore innovative and sustainable long-term strategies to address the persistent weed issue. The group believes that relying solely on harvesting as a means of weed control is an unsustainable approach and calls for a comprehensive and collaborative effort to find effective and lasting solutions.

While the Advocacy Group acknowledges that the weed issue is not completely resolved, we are confident that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will continue to monitor the lake and maintain its safety, health, and freedom from invasive weeds. The Advocacy Group is committed to utilizing the knowledge and tools acquired from previous years to ensure the lake remains in optimal condition.
The Advocacy Group extends their gratitude to Dr. Jones from Restorative Lake Sciences, Mark Heilman of Sea Pro, Matthew Johnson from Aquatic Controls, ODNR, Watershed, and all of their Advocacy Members for their unwavering support and trust. They also express appreciation to anyone else involved in making the 2023 boating season a vast improvement over the weedy season of 2022.
The Board Members of the Advocacy Group specifically thank Bud Christman for his dedication to seeking knowledge, connecting with experts, securing government funding, and fostering collaboration among individuals and organizations.
Looking ahead, the Advocacy Group eagerly anticipates a successful and invasive weed-free boating and fishing season in 2024.
